The art of waltzing comes in two main forms: English and Viennese. The English version of the waltz is more modern than the Viennese version, but before you learn the waltz, you have to choose whether you want to know both or just one! The only major variation between the two is speed: the English waltz is slow, whilst the Viennese waltz is a bit fast-paced.

The waltz is one of the simplest dances to learn and practice. Its steps are quite easy, and if you’re of the inclination, you can change and embroider them all you want! A dancing instructor is a good way to go if you want to learn the waltz, but hiring a competent one who knows how to teach the waltz and has credentials in this feature is essential!

Beginners in the waltz tend to learn a lot about waltzing from instructional dance videos which can easily be bought in bookshops or paid for and downloaded online. Instructional videos are good because they enable you to learn this dance at your own speed. Also, you can watch people actually doing the waltz at elaborate parties. This is better because you actually see the forms of movement of the dance before you and can also rope in a willing partner to teach you!

However, knowing the art of performing the waltz without form or beauty is a complete waste of time. In a studio environment and with a dance instructor, you will learn the true grace of moving with the flow of the music. Then you can dance the waltz anywhere at anytime with any partner and have the time of your life!

Want to learn Waltz steps and moves easily?

I cannot perform the waltz dance moves and I cannot dance despite the fact that I was in a dance class as a freshman in college. So if my daughter holds a major event such as a coming out party, a premonade, or (gasp!) holds her own wedding reception, I need to know some dance steps to get me going.

The waltz is a type of dance that has developed for sometime from an ancient folk dance from Germany, it is performed to a one-two-three beat. Many of the waltz dance moves are slowly danced and using the basic dance steps, you will survive the waltz without much problem.

1. With your partner held in your arms, in a classic kind of dance stance with the right hand on the waist of your partner and the left hand on her right hand. Place her left hand on your right shoulder. This feels very natural since you have seen it being done repeatedly. As you are dancing this waltz, she follows you while doing the exact opposite of what it is you are doing.

2. You should play and listen to the music for sometime so that your mind can register the 1-2-3 beat. Thereafter, on the first beat make a single forward step using the left foot. One the other side, you partner makes a single back step using her right foot. Have you understood it yet?

3. On the second beat, make a forward step and towards the right using the right foot. The right foot should be in such a manner that it somehow forms an “L” that is upside down to be able to succeed. Again the other party moves her left foot to the back and then to the left so that by the time the step ends, both of you are facing each other.

4. Your weight should be shifted to the right foot without having to move your left foot. It is a leaning movement that is gentle.

5. On the next beat, the left foot slides to the right one while you remain standing with both feet together. Your partner does the vice versa. At this point both of you will be looking like you did when you started.

6. On the 4th beat of 6, make a single back step using the right foot. Your partner on the other hand makes a forward step with her left foot.

7. At the fifth beat, make a back step and towards the left using the left foot, your weight should then be shifted to the left foot.

8. The sixth which is the last beat of the last waltz dance step is taken while sliding the right foot to the front in such a way that both feet are left together. Both of you should be together again, with feet together, facing each other just like it was before both of you started.

9. Now you should start as is in step two, making a single forward step using the left foot, the only difference is that both of you make an approximately 1/4 turn towards the left. This partner should be repeated again.<img class="alignright size-full wp-image-132" title="Learn and Master Ballroom Dance Dvd Couurse.
If it sounds like you have used your feet to make a box, you have gotten it. Practice repeatedly while the music is playing, until you feel comfortable with the waltz step. And enjoy these elegant and simple waltz dance moves with your wife, partner and daughter.

If you are serious about learning the professional ballroom Waltz dance, Learn and Master Ballroom Dance Dvd Course would be best option for you to master all the ballroom dances and Waltz well instantly.

Basics for the Waltz Dance Lesson

Those who have taken part in a ballroom waltz dance lesson will testify that this dance is quite easy and uncomplicated to learn. The ballroom Waltz has a rhythmic and simple pattern that blends well with the played music. The dance movements are also smooth. At first, the Waltz dance required one to take a step backward or forward, a step to the side and finally a step bringing the feet together. The dance basically involves perfect timing of the playing music’s rhythm and all the three steps. Later on, the dance transformed into a much slower style that was referred to as “Boston Waltz”. Nowadays, there is the American or International version of which is danced with hesitation and is much slower; for three beats, one just makes one step. The dance is relished more as the pace gets slower.

When you are just about to begin, think of the waves. The Waltz is similar to the waves in terms of the movements: sway, fall or rise. For every dance step you perform be as confident as the cat is and make it to be as smooth as silk. For first time learners, you ought not be intense or make abrupt moves; rather your movements should be as smooth as possible. The dance’s long sweeping moves across the dance floor makes it a symbol of love and romantic rendezvous. For you to get the steps right, it ought to be gradual and graceful. Any sudden drops or movements should never be made, rather make sure to begin from the toe then gently drop slow and steadily to the heel. Ensure that the body is movable and not rigid, since the ballroom waltz dance lesson requires movements across the floor, rather than dancing in a fixed or straight line. If you seriously want to take a ballroom waltz dance lesson, there are many professional tutors and dance schools offering lessons. Consider spending on a hobby that is truly gratifying.

What does Waltz represent?

Beauty, pride and grace. Even in dance competitions, judges are likely to pay attention at how the head is poised and lifted. The Waltz dance symbolizes all things that are beautiful. Waltz was regarded to be a dance mainly for the famous and rich, perfect and polished at the time it became well-known in Boston. The combination of dance and music makes it among the most exceptional dances. It perfectly blends art leaving the dancer feeling elevated and light.

Practice Often…

Lastly, it is only by constantly practicing that you can become an excellent and great “Waltzer”. You can either dance at home or go to few parties and enjoy the dance. However, the more you continue dancing the more your movements and steps will become more refined. All you have to do is “fly away” not letting anything hinder you. Separate yourself from any thing that can inhibit you and allow the music to take control. Just think of yourself flying as this is what Waltz is all about and what it can do, mentally. Why not enroll for a ballroom waltz dance lesson today and feel the wind as you dance along.

The waltz dance steps are smooth and the dancers travel around the dance line. It is distinguished by the rise and fall movement. The motion of the shoulders is smooth and they remain parallel to the floor and not in an up-down motion. The head is required to follow the direction of a turn while the head of the man remains in an upright position peering over the lady’s right shoulder.

Rising and Falling of Waltz Dance Steps
The rising and falling motion is exclusive to this dance. All the steps of the Waltz should possibly be long. When doing the initial step forward, the weight on the heel is reduced, thereafter the weight goes to the front part of the foot. A steady rise until the toes is begun when the first beat ends then continued until the 2nd and 3rd beat of every music bar. When the third beat ends the dancers should lower to a normal position until the heel carries all the weight.

The essential step for this dance involves box stepping. This refers to the outline that is created on the ground (square of box) which makes up the basics of the dance.

Box steps may be divided in two segments, one forward partial box and one backward partial box. Each of the partial boxes has triple steps. One in front or backward, one side step and one step bringing joining the feet back together.

The person leading begins with the foot on the left, executing one partial box in front and thereafter a partial box. The person following does the opposite of this – she begins with the foot on the right, executing one backward partial box and subsequently one forward partial box.

The main box step movement is done in three counts – drag, fast, fast that is repeated two times, thus creating a box step.

When doing the waltz, one person has to lead while the other one follows. It is customary for the man to lead while the lady follows.

Fundamental Waltz Steps

Waltz Steps for Men

One step in front with the foot on the left

Right side step with the right foot

Bring the foot on the left to the foot on the right hand side

Take a step back using the foot on the right hand side

Take a back sideways step using the foot on the left hand side.

Bring the foot on the right to the one on the left hand side

Waltz Steps for ladies

Step back using the foot on the right hand side

Make a Left side step on the left hand side

Bring the foot on the right to the one on the left hand side

Take a forward step using the foot on the left hand side

Take a forward sidestep with the foot on the right hand side

Bring the foot on the left hand side to the one on the right hand side

Women’s Waltz Box Step
Once the simple box step has been mastered it is the right time to begin rotating the box. This is usually done to the left hand side (counter clockwise) therefore it is known as a left box turn.

It is fairly easy and with every partial box, make a quarter turn on the left. Once two boxes (or four halves) have been done, the turn is completed and the dancers end up at the starting point. The same waltz dance steps are then repeated from the beginning once again.

Are you going to get married soon? Do you want to know how to dance the waltz? Well, this is not a big deal. The waltz is one of the simplest forms of ballroom dancing and requires very little time to learn. Regular practice and rehearsals can make you a professional waltz dancer. It is perhaps one of the oldest ballroom dances and is performed all over the world with great enthusiasm.

Types of Waltz:
Basically there are two types of waltz: the Viennese waltz and the English waltz. While the Viennese waltz is a fast dance, the English waltz (or simply waltz) is a slow form of dance. The rhythm and the style of dancing depend on the tempo of the music played in the background. However, this kind of dance can fit with any kind of popular music. The dance steps can be easily modified according to the mode of the background music. This is one the reasons for the popularity of the waltz all across the globe.

How to learn the dance:
Since the dance steps are easy and simple, a couple can always use the help of an instructor to modify them. One must choose true and professional trainers, as they will help to teach the dance in a systematic and methodical manner. Most professional dance instructors have special programs for amateurs and beginners.

Beginners can also learn the dance by watching well-made dance videos.

One can easily learn the dance through videos as they do not require partners.

They can practice the dance steps at home to attain perfection.

It is important that after learning the initial moves, one must always attend dance parties where the waltz is performed.

This will not only help them to learn more steps, but also bring perfection to the dance.

Learning in dance studios:
Amateurs can easily be admitted to different studios to learn the art of the waltz. Dance studios have many seasoned instructors who can teach you how to dance the waltz. Dancing with pros can help you to gain expertise much earlier than your expectation. Simply learning the dance steps will not do, one must go for regular practice in order to learn the moves quickly. One must be able to give the proper time and space to learn the dance. After that, you will find that you know how to dance the waltz for any occasion.
